In the Sea Kingdoms there are many countries and cities. Within one of these cities, the capital city of the country Ahtarrath, is located the temples where the spiritual orientated study and live in secluded peace and safety. Some of these people prefer not to live in the temples, but the temples are a place of study.
The first and foremost temple is the Temple of Banur, the four-faced god, destroyer-preserver; ruler of winter.
The people who study here where the robe of White in representation of the winter that Banur rules. Within this temple there is the Grand Library, which has all the records up until this time, both fictional and factual books line the wooden shelves. The temple itself is a magnificent stone structure with the dormitory levels at the very apex of it.
The second temple is that of The Blood Star, also known as Mars, or the god of war. The robe of those who study here are Red to represent the blood shed by the ancient god. The initiates of this temple study the arts of war, from martial arts to war strategy. The building resembles a barracks, sentry posts have been created on the outer boundaries of it so as to train Acolytes in the way of handling a nightly watch.
The next temple is that of Dyaus, the Sleeper, also known as the 'Man with Crossed Hands,' the force of chaos that brings change; sometimes referred to as 'That One'. It's initiates where the Grey Robes, a symbol of chaos. They are often associated with the black magic and have a close eye kept on them.
The temple of Manoah, the Great Maker, Lord of the Day, identified with the sun; ruler of Summer, and with Orion. The people who choose to study at this temple are required to where the chosen Yellow robes, a representation of the sun and his power. The building itself is a large stone structure, about the same size as Mars' building. A grand hall of art is to be found when it is entered.
The temple of Nar-Inabi the 'Star Shaper', god of night, the stars and the sea; ruler of harvest time is found on the slopes of the mountain that is behind Antarrah. The reason for this temple is that it is designed for those that wish to study the heavens. The initiates sleep in crude huts around the outside of the circular temple. Within the temple the walls are lines with astrological charts and the roof off the first floor is a magnifying type of crystal so that planets can be seen, on the second tier the roof is opened so the heavens can be documented. The initiates wear a gold robe to symbolise the stars.
The second last temple is that of Caratra, daughter or nurturing aspect of Ni-Terat, the great mother; Venus is her star. Her initiates wear the blue to symbolise prosperity and within the walls of the temple are people married and children born.
The last but not least temple is that of Ni-Terat, Dark mother of all, Veiled aspect of the great mother, goddess of the Earth, ruler of planting time. Her robe is Black and so her initiates where the same black robe. These initiates study time and life.
The laws of the temples are simple. Obey your higher order, wear your rightful robe, study what you have chosen to study, respect the gods and most of all, help with the growing community of the Sea Kingdoms.
